Although Acadia Tides was coded with care, it may contain errors yielding wrong results. There is no guarantee for the correctness of these results. Do not rely on the output of this program for decisions that can result in harm to anyone or anything. Agencies like NOAA and the United States Naval Observatory exist because there is a need for certifiably correct tide, sun, and moon predictions. Please do not rely on Acadia Tides if you need guaranteed results.

Sunrise and sunset predictions are calculated using PHP's date_sunrise and date_sunset functions. These functions can return predictions that may vary from United States Naval Observatory predictions by a couple of minutes.
Variables used in the calculation are based on a location of Bar Harbor, Maine:
The fraction of the Moon illuminated is pulled from United States Naval Observatory data that has been downloaded and converted to CSV files. The percentage of Moon illuminated for each day is calculated based on a reference time of noon.
All times are local to Acadia National Park, Maine, USA.
